1. Festival organizers

2. Participation conditions

POL-8 festival is a competition open to all amateur filmmakers

The subject matter and artistic form of the films is unrestricted

The leading theme of the current edition of the festival is “Natural environment – Ecology in amateur film”

The participation in the Festival is based on the condition of sending the film with the film submission form by 05.08.2005 to the address:

The participation fee for one film in the POL-8 Festival is:

- for foreign films – 10 €
- for Polish films – 15 PLN
it should be sent to the MCK Polanica Zdrój account
(PKO BP S.A. o/ Kłodzko 37 1020 5112 0000 7302 0008 2958) by 05.08.2005.

Following films will not be accepted for the festival:

- the films rejected by the Qualifying Commission
- those made before year 2003
- the films that were submitted for the previous editions of the Festival POL-8
- made by the members of the Jury, the Qualifying Commission, professional 
filmmakers, students of film academies above 2nd year of studies

The time of film showing should not exceed 20 minutes

The organizers reserve a right to accept for the Festival, in special cases, longer films due to their exceptional values

The video tape should contain only the film submitted for the current edition of the Festival with a description on the video cassette (1 film per one cassette)

Each film should end with the “The end” caption

The sound for films made in VHS or SVHS technique should be recorded on an audio-dubbing path.

In exceptional cases it is permitted to have the sound on the Hi-Fi and audio-dubbing paths but the author should mark it on the film submission form

If the film contains dialogues or commentaries a dialogue list, dubbing or subtitles in English or German should be enclosed

3. Films qualification and evaluation

The decision of accepting a film for the Festival is taken by the Qualifying Commission

The Qualifying Commission and the Festival Jury are appointed by the organizers

The films accepted for the Festival will be evaluated by an international Jury

The verdicts of the Qualifying Commission and the Jury are conclusive

4. Awards

The Jury is entitled to distribute the awards freely in different categories, including the one for approaching the subject “Natural environment – Ecology in amateur film”

The Jury can award Grand Prix for the best film of the Festival

The whole sum of rewards will be at least 5.000 PLN

Institutions, organisations and private sponsors can fund special rewards (outside the regulations)

5. Participation in the Festival

The participants pay their own journey

Polanica Zdrój is an attractive tourist resort - we advice booking accommodation in advance

The cost of accreditation for one person is 80 PLN and includes 2 nights accommodation with breakfast and the participation in the festival events

The accreditation is accepted on the condition of paying 40 PLN to the organizers account (MCK) till 05.09.2005

6. Final resolutions

The organizers reserve the right to record the films on video tapes and to use them for the purpose of documentation and popularisation of amateur film production

The films not claimed after the Festival will be sent back by post

The organizers will present the detailed schedule of the Festival on the internet address www.polanica.pl

by 15.09.2005.
